On the occasion of 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, Internet Society Kolkata Chapter in its 10th year announces India Internet Week from 11-17th November, 2019 at Kolkata, India. The objective is to discuss Internet issues in a multi-stakeholder model while each stakeholder community having their own space to sharpen and share the knowledge of their community and increase the base of participation & contribution. This has the power to change the narrative and depth how Internet issues and policies are discussed in India.
India Internet Week, a week long conglomeration of multiple Conferences, workshops, panels and Key Notes will discusses the broad policy framework required for Internet Governance along with deep dive into the components of Internet namely DNS & Roots, Names (Domains)and Numbers (protocols).
The Week starts with the maiden academic conference (iTIPS)and PHD Forum focused to bring together the academic community working on Internet Technology and Policy and is run by India Internet Foundation and supported by Calcutta University and ACM Kolkata Section. It is followed by Connections – A pre IETF India Forum run by India Internet Engineering Society on Internet Protocols which keeps the Internet alive and kicking. Youth Internet Governance Forum in its 2nd edition is co locating itself and is being hosted at St. Xaviers University. Co-locating again is GFCE-III (Global Forum on Cyber Expertise) of which India is a member and 2nd edition is in Kolkata and is the right forum for CIOs and CISOs to discuss the policy and technology around networks and critical internet infrastructure. Finally the week will wrap up with India School on Internet Governance a school run in collaboration with 4 ISOC chapters namely, Delhi Trivandrum Mumbai & Kolkata.
